Thanks Rodger. I made up a few other versions of this fly with some other colors of the TenkaraBum yarn.

Image

The one on the left is tyed with a Nymph Yarn abdomen (mixture of browns and grey fibers) with a Bracken Yarn thorax (mixture of yellow & olive tone fibers).

The top one is the same one posted above.

The right fly is has the Bracken Yarn for the abdomen and the thorax is made with dubbing made from the Nymph Yarn. This fly was tyed with a stiff furnace hackle.

Anyway, just having fun with my new wool yarn. (Thanks Chris! This stuff is great. Your killer bug yarn and nymph yarn are terrific. I love the colors and the texture. It creates a nice buggy fly without a lot of effort. I can't wait to fish with these.)

Ray, Howdy;

Your short trip, a tad South and a bit East seems to have given your already
active imageineation a boost... like hittin' it in the butt with a cattle prod !

Excellent flies ...

Ray I love the variations. I haven't seen that yarn before. The bracken yarn really grabbed my attn. I initially wanted to say I was surprised that youcould do a body to compete with that partridge hackle. Man, that is such a nice marking.

Cool post.

Thanks William. The partridge hackle was given to me by Carl Sanders (Old hat). The bird is from Eastern Oregon and has lovely barring.

Chris - The more I look at this Utah yarn, the more it reminds me of a very pale tups mix. The pink fibers seem to show up more in the photo, than at first glance at the yarn. As I study the nymph yarn, the colors remind me of pheasant tail.

Chris, Howdy;

Is the yarn from Utah or is it just a name ???

If it's from Utah, where ???????????

Hank - I think it is just the name of the yarn. Chris' site mentions that the guides around Salt Lake City Utah use this color yarn to tye Killer Bug patterns. See link below (scroll down roughly 2/3rds of the way down the page):

Your creativity never ceases to amaze me, Ray. These are more excellent examples of your ability to combine "new" materials with traditional ones and produce sure fish-getters. And your photos ain't too shabby either ;) .
