Furnace Flymph II

Post by tie2fish » Fri Jun 29, 2012 10:48 am

This is not supposed to resemble any bug I know of, but I like the color combination ...

Hook: Vintage Mustad 3913B, sproat bend/TUE (thanks to william)
Thread: Pearsall's Gossamer silk, claret
Hackle: Red and black furnace hen
Thorax: Blender-processed claret wool yarn in a Clark's block dubbing brush made using waxed claret thread
Tail: Red and black furnace hen feather barbs
Abdomen: Blender-processed mix of pinkish and cream wool yarns in a dubbing brush

Clark spinning block ~ Doug (Dougsden) Duvall
Vintage hook: William (William Anderson) Anderson

Terrific fly, Bill. The fly has a that "vintage" look to it. I think the hook has a lot to do with it. Beautiful photograph, by the way.

Yep, I like that blended body and the materials combination a lot. Those wool yarn blends really have a lot of offer and the sparse body is really nice. Excellent work.

I know a few systems where that would make a nice march brown. Well done.

Excellent looking tie. I am going to have to search out one of those coffee bean grinders when I get home, those wool yarn bodies look so good blended together and wool is something NZ can do well.

Bill,
You have done it! This is "the look" that I have been striving to achieve for quite some time. It's a hard thing to explain but you have done an excellent job in bringing this look that I like to fruition!

Nicely done, Bill. The colors are wonderful and technique superb.
