Emma's Choice

Post by chase creek » Wed Jul 04, 2012 2:41 pm

My 5 yr old Grandgirl stayed overnight last night, and we spent some time at the vise. I asked her to choose some material to make a fly, and she grabbed some embroidery yarn I had in a drawer. This is what came of it. (The pic of Emma was taken last Halloween)

Hook - WR-396 Nymph hook, size 12
Thread - Griffiths 14/0 Primrose
Body - Single strand of yellow embroidery yarn, with a thin coat of Super Glue for durability
Thorax - Peacock sword
Hackle - Brown hen

OK, I have no idea why the same photo shows up multiple times, the 3 different files are listed correctly in the posted attachments list of the input, but in the main body, the one file (the fly pic) is listed 3 times. Sorry, most likely my bad. I'll go to my room.

Your grandgirl made a very fine selection and you sir have done well putting it together. I'm sure it would be a very successful fishing fly :)
Life is good, why waste it.

Emma's picture is priceless! I can't stop smiling, after looking at that photo.

Beautiful fly, but Emma steals the show. :D

As usual, your pattern and photography are excellent. Yellow has been a producing color for me lately, so your pattern really caught me eye.
The picture of your grandaughter is priceless! I am glad you posted it.

That pattern came out very nice!

Emma has wonderful choice in materials, a natural and her Granda did a supurb job of putting chosen materials together. Well done to you both.

How can you go wrong when an expert in materials selection takes over? We often forget that children have an intuition about putting things together. Just one more proof, here.
