Hen and Bug Yarn Soft-Hackles

I received a bit of the TenkaraBum Utah Killer Bug Yarn and the Nymph Yarn from Ray, which I believe originated with Chris Stewart (thanks to both of you gents) and finally put together a couple sets. I'm wishing now that I had taken pics of these wet because the bodies really give that milky, blended lifelike appearance.

For the Brown and Gray bodies I took the two strands making up the Nymph Yarn apart and wrapped them in separately.

looks a lot like the llama bodies I tied some time ago. http://www.flymphforum.com/viewtopic.ph ... ilit=llama

The first fly is tied using a dun Indian Hen neck which has that nice gamey webbing mentioned by Mark L and the last two are tied with an odd neck that I would do well to just call Brown Speckled Variant. It's got potential, similar to a CdL cape with the glassy appearance and color shifts. You can see from the third fly that the hackles could use a little more webbing or a few more turns. They look better than they photograph, but I prefer the webbier hackles .

This whole thing might have been better in the "quality of capes" thread.

Excellent use and blend of materials. I hope you get the chance to fish these soon. I would love to hear a report.

Wow what a great material that is (the yarn). Where would one buy that at?

I called it a Spangle, but I dont know the proper name for that color.

William, you may want to call him "Sir".
