I was poking around in my hook box, and decided to use some of these.


Buzzer
Hook: # 10
Silk: Black.
Rib: Black wire, small.
Body: Body-flexx Amethyst.
Thorax: Black dubbing.
Hackle: Black hen, short fibre.


Grey Greenwell
Hook: # 10.
Silk: Grey Pearsall
Rib: Black wire small.
Body: Grey silk.
Hackle: Greenwell cock, Indian.

Very cool flies! Is the second fly fished as an emerger/dry fly? The hackle looks like cock hackle (stiffer fibers). Do you use this with any floatant on the fibers?

Ray, it is an Indian cock hackle.
I taken the idea of the West Country Spider and used a curved hook,
So I suppose it a bit of a mongrel fly. It can be used however you
like, dry, emerger or a wet fly. It is an un-fished prototype.
Actually I don't get much fishing in these days. The eyes make
the bank-side a bit unsafe. All my flies, unless I dress a well established
pattern, is a prototype.

Another good looking couple of flies Donald.
I do the same sometimes, Indian Cock hackle or locally found "farmyard" cockeral hackle. Sometimes you want something a bit stiffer in the barb so as not to wrap around the body..... or something to hold in the film a little better.
Like the idea of classic spiders on curved hooks.... especially if they hold in the film. Gives a very inviting profile to prospective customers!

I'm likin' those curved hooks, too. To me, it just looks more natural.
Don't know how the fish feel, but that's my reasoning.
