Grey Hackle
Hook: # 12 Veniard.
Silk: Primrose Pearsall.
Rib: Narrow Holo Silver tinsel.
Body: 2 fibres Black Peacock.
Hackle: Yellow Badger cock.
A variant of Leisenring’s Fly,
basically I used what came to hand.

Nice variation Donald, you cannot go wrong with peacock and tinsel, two great stand-by's.

Donald - I often tye the same way. Look around my desk, grab a couple components, and see what I can come up with. A very enjoyable way to play. Lovely fly. I find the wider tinsel to suit this pattern perfectly.
Now, where did I put my black peacock herl? I've been saving that for something special...

Hank, you are right, but include bloody mindedness.
Ray, that is often the most satisfying method.
I have been re-reading a little book by T. Donald Overfield called
"50 Favourite Wet Flies". So! I have been culling it for wingless wets and
I am in the process of putting together a collection of them.
One of his favourites was Leisenring's "Grey Hackle" which inspired me.
There are a lot more from more obscure fly-dressers.
When I have done the basic list, I shall post a notice and
send, whoever is interested, a PDF file.
