One plus variant for Mr. Anderson

Post by Donald Nicolson » Tue Sep 04, 2012 5:14 am

I hope you find this of interest William.
From Oldfield's book, by a fly-dresser called Jim Nice.
It is a modified Williams Favourite.
I am afraid the Swan fibre tail slipped round, couldn't tell until
I saw the blown up picture. :(

This is my variant on the variant.
There is a white fibre of some kind caught up in the fly,
again I did not see until I viewed the picture. :(

Still, it looks like a very likely fly, both versions. :)

Both good looking variations Donald. Many a pattern has been "spruced up" with the addition of a red tag, these two should do just fine as fish takers.

Donald, these both look very effective and nicely tied. The fly is basically a Reid's Assassin as shown in Nemes Two Centuries book, but with a full thorax. I'm not sure who tied what and when, but it's a great combo. You're right, it should certainly find a row in my box. I especially like the red swan tag. It's brilliant color. Great post.

Donald, Howdy;

Nice job on both flys.
Don't think the fish will mind
an askew tail nor the odd white enhancement ;)
Good work with the photos as well.
