'Shades of Grey'

'Shades of Grey'
Here are three spiders in grey.
I was looking through some hackle skins and realised that I had not
dressed much with grizzle hackle or grey silk.
When I see them on the laptop, I realise that I should take more time
and use the Magnifiers I got from Orvis. These flies are a bit 'iffy' in places.

Thank-you gentlemen. ;)
I think I may do these three again with a bit more care.
That could be a nice little project for me, '50 shades of Grey'.
At 77 it will be the only 'Shades of Grey' for me. :(

Donald, Howdy;

You are still miles ahead of my tying efforts..
I do admire your stick-to-it style of not allowing
what Life hands you get you down ...
Admriable !!!
Looking forword to the follow-ups .... ;)

Grey in my opinion is a better mimic of naturals than a lot of colors that are used...and your flies NEVER disappoint me!

Donald - Handsome brace of flies! I especially love the first. The black ribbing gives the fly a lovely segmentation. Do you remember what Make/Model hook you used? It looks like a short shank Model Perfect bend.

The hook is labeled :-
Partridge Flash Point - TWH The Wet, size 12.
It was sent to me when I ordered Captain Hamilton Wet Fly Hooks.
I think Partridge, dropped the 'Captain Hamilton' from the labeling.
It is my favourite d/e hook, wet or dry.
The book:- 'Trout Fishing and Sport in Maoriland' (1904) by G. D. Hamilton,
is well worth a read. It is free on http://archive.org/.

Or you can have an original for about $600 US....... I know of one for sale. :D
A few here want to read that book Donald, the trout have not changed a lot in mentality in the last 100 and few years and Capt Hamilton got by with just the five flies!
