Wow, these are great. I hadn't seen hemp used as a body material before, but it looks like gourmet food for the trout.
Both the long and short versions are beautiful, with the classic snipe hackle and hare's dubbing thorax.

What other unusual, natural materials have been under-used for fly tying?

Thanks for posting!

Great pair of flies Cicvara, they just scream "eat me". Nice plump grub like bodies and subtle hackle that is going to evoke life in the fly. Nicely done.

Rasevic - marvelous flies. They should be highly effective. I am curious to know how they behave in the water. I wonder how much the hemp changes color (darkens), once it gets wet. Does the hemp make the fly float?

Great stuff!!! ;)

I like both versions a lot. Great looking bodies, very caddis like. I too, wonder about how they behave when wet. May have to tie up a couple and find out.

Wish I would have kept some hemp twine from all the hay bails I fed when I was in the dairy business. Great design cicvara!

Realistic body and very nicely hackled. Those will catch fish!

Great looking segmentation with the hemp. I'm sure I haven't heard of hemp yarn being used before.
