Sweet Inspiration (Candy Corn Soft Hackles)

Post by letumgo » Sun Oct 21, 2012 3:01 pm

The other day I was wandering thru the store and saw a display of candles made of various colors of candy corn. I was inspired to take a photo of the display and use the colors to create some Halloween themed soft hackle flies. These color combinations may work on panfish, or perhaps wild brook trout. The white tail, may make them ideal for chubs (similar to the ones Donald Nicholson mentioned in Roger Woolley’s book called “Modern Trout Fly Dressing” (1932).

Oh boy, Ray ... those are just delightful! It amazes me how you continually come up with new patterns based on your casual observations of shapes and colors in your daily doings. Inspired indeed!

I've been putting off commenting on these flies to find the right words. Can't do it, so awesome will have to do. Ray, these are great, vibrant colors, great body taper and lovely hackle. You amaze me.
