Very nice,I like the way you carried the colour combination throughout the fly.
I am guessing when it becomes wet the silks become darker and the colour variation is not as pronounced? It should however assume a nice natural body with the #11A becoming "browner" and the #9 a little darker.

Bill, that's very striking. It's a cool combination and executed flawlessly. I'm especially impressed with the hackle wraps and the fact that there are two hackles tied there. Not surprised....just impressed. :D

Love the hackle on this one. Very well done.

That's a winner!

I was mentioning to Bill recently that this level of tying is probably beyond me. It was certainly a major turning point when I started tying NCS and realized the real consideration of materials and planning, or practice it took to get something so simple to come out so clean. It was the first time I really started looking at each barb of a hackle, counting wraps at each step and considering the intent much more than I had done before. I was a relative newbie too, so it was a great lesson and changed my tying in a big way. I should really get back to tying more spiders to get my skills back for this kind of thing. But double hackles and double silks?...I won't be trying that any time soon.

William,
Don't cut yourself short! Your tying abilities are world class just as Bills! I know you can do it. Show us your stuff!
Do you have any pic.'s or great stories of you and Lance and others in Danbury? It would be sweeeet to see them!
A fan always,
