Double Olive Flymph
Hook: Mustad 3399A
Thread: Pale olive Gossamer
Hackle: Medium creamy dun hen
Body: Dark Olive Hare's Mask dubbed Leisenring style on the pale olive Gossamer. Leave a little thread showing at the tail end.
Had to wind this up before bed to help unwind me. I am liking the Gossamer.

I really like this one. Somehow it seems very enough of everything an too much of nothing.

Mark ---What is the difference between your fly and a Waterhen Bloa is it the colour of the thread?

John,
I believe the Waterhen Bloa calls for gray mole dubbing and yellow Pearsalls. This fly is made from OLIVE Hare's mask dubbed on Pearsall's Pale Olive thread. This fly also uses creamy dun colored hen (chicken) rather than Waterhen. The effect may be similar, but the materials are different. I've seen Martin O' Loughlin's variation of the bloa using olive mole dyed with picric acid, yellow Pearsall's and Moorhen hackle.

Maybe this should be a separate post what is (picric acid) for?
John
PS that might make a good post--- using different things to get different colors. ?

Hey
Ron is absolutely right. This is propably the worst advice i have seen on a webpage like this. Picric acid is an explosive. If the solution dries out and crystals are formed you have the recipe for disaster. Dont take my word for it, look it up in wikipedia. I couldnt supply the link here since your forum doesnt allow it but the word explose is coming up a lot there.
It makes the most fantastic colors, BUT its not for non chemist and absolutely NOT for homeuse
