Lynx? Now that's something you don't see everyday. Very cool.
I like the photo without the flash, better.
Ringneck pheasant is an under utilized feather, IMHO. Nice to see it used so well.

That's a great looking tie--the late Jack Gartside would definitely approve.

Sweet looking fly, hope they were not combings from a live Lynx?

A lot of Lure (streamer) patterns over here call for Pheasant feathers like those, not as a hackle though- usually as a killer style wing like the Mrs. Simpson. Gives a striking, contrast colour steps in a hackle, I like it.

Hey Murray, these are great. Real swimmy. Did you wrap the hackle in as a collar? Its a great looking fly.

Oh, I agree with Ray on the photos, I too prefer the non-flash photo- the colours seem more honest and less white, but hey..... I can take crappier!

Another use for these longer feathers, (if you have a few) is to wrap them as a hackle tail where you would normally tie a tail over the top of the bend, ah-la Irish Shrimp styled patterns.

Thanks everyone. William I finished the body , tied in the hackle, wrapped the hackle forward towards the eye, then brought the thread through the hackle to the eye and added a few wraps to force the hackle backwards. Haven't been bringing the thread thru the hackle on previous flies. I finally paid attention to the post here and learned something...

MM, I will definitely have to try the "tail" thing for a shrimpy pattern. Apparently the different shrimp flies are killer for salmon here...thanks for the heads up!
