Very nice! The thorax really jumps out with the darker colouration of the hackle and abdomen. Very interesting and clever way of forming the abdomen, same with the photo taken on the contrast strip of your dubbing block.

Rodger - Superb blend of fly tying alchemy, bordering on sorcery. The finished result is magical. You are a wizard.

Rodger...oh man, I am behind and I was going to post how much I like your other pattern with the spun hare body and wool mix thorax...it's exactly what I would want loaded in my box.

But this. This, is iconic for me. It's not new or game changing, but for me it's a way forward in my tying/fishing/thinking. If I could put all the things to make a pattern feel like it includes the dynamics I would want to achieve in a single pattern...you've done it, and in a method that I love. The pic with the block and the use of the herl in the spun body is just fantastic. What I have been calling the twist bodies for a couple of years include just this kind of herl/silk/dubbing or some combo of materials spun together and brought forward with less concern for segmentation and color and more to do with tones, contrast, textures and mottling. I love this one. Please keep pushing this technique. It's easily one of my favorites. Beautifully done.

This is a magnificent fly. I love everything about it.

Roger this is a beautiful pattern. You outdid yourself on that abdomen. It's not easy to twist those materials together and have it come out so nice. Great color choices all around as well. I am a sucker for hotspots, especially in the winter months. I find those little spots on a dark fly to be real killers in this time of year.
