Here are a couple of Spiders to see out the old year.
The first was a bit of themed Rusty Dun, I found the Hebert hen skin when looking through my collection, also the Dark dun Hebert hen.
The second is a modern take on an old Border Spider.
The problem with the Grip hooks, which I like, is that the blackness rather overwhelms the subtlties of the silk.

Rusty Dun Spider
Hook:- # 12 Grip 14723BL
Silk:- Orange fluorescent Pearsall.
Rib:- Hot Yellow UltraWire.
Body:- Argentine Hare, red oxide (rust?).
Hackle:- Rusty dun hen, Hebert.

Blae and Yellow Spider.
Hook:- # 10 Grip 14723BL.
Silk:- Yellow.
Body:- Well waxed Yellow silk, touch dubbed with natural mole.
Thorax:- Mole.
Hackle:- Dark Grey Dun hen, Hebert.

And a guid new year tae ane an' a'. :D ;)

Bonnie wee dressings, Donald. The first one reminds me of the one you sent in for the hotspot swap. That fly caught me a nice brown in Roscoe. Thank you very much! ;)

I love how the wax and mole dubbing changes the second pattern. It has an olive look to it, which is attractive.

Happy New Year!

A pair to be well pleased with. Very nice scruffy wee spiders that are sure to attract the attentions of even the fussiest trouts. :D

Well done, Donald. Both look like trout catchers. I must say though, the Blae and Yellow really calls my name. I'll be coopying that dressing for sure. A healthy and happy New Year to you and yours, my friend.

Donald, these are wonderful ties. I too really like the second.

I know you have been playing with photos and I must say, in all honesty and admiration for you work, that the bright green backgrounds do not do these flies justice.

OldHat, I shall re-photo these two with a white background and do a comparison.
Stendahlen, we still use 'wax', as in a 'waxing moon'. :) ;)
