Ginger Muskrat and Dun Flymph
Hook - Mustad - 94848-R50/Size 12
Thread - Well waxed Pearsalls Gossamer Silk (Ash/No. 10)
Hackle - Hen Neck Hackle (Medium Dun)
Thorax - Silk Dubbing Brush (Leisenring-style dubbing brush formed with Muskrat Dubbing on well waxed Ash [No. 10] Pearsall's Gossamer Silk)
Tail/Abdomen - Four Pheasant Tail Fibers (Bleached Ginger) - Wrapped backwards and counter ribbed with the tying silk.

Sorry to keep pounding the same nail. It's just such a fun fly to tye. I realize these are small variations in the same basic flymph. The color combinations are potentially endless. I still want to do some sort of mostly green combination (damsel fly imitation), brown and black versions (possibly suggestive of stoneflies, or other such insects).

Nice fly! I think this may be the flymph form of a bi-visible dry I fish! ;)

Hank - I hoped Wayne would like this fly. The muskrat is a nod to his trusted fly (but I probably should have used a brown hackle ;) ).

I dont know, the color of the PT, and Dun hackle sure looks good on that Muskrat thorax! Brown Hackle would be very effective for fishing, but I dont think it could compare with the Dun for looks. Just an opinion. :)

I sure do like the angle of your hackle's dangle, Ray. ;)

Ray, this is a beefy gem. personally, I'd like to see all the combinations...so don't stop now. There are a few other combos that will be both killing and interesting to compare. Thanks for these.
