Found a package of these hooks in the depths of my desk. Kinda like the look.

Rodger, that is very swimmy. I love this. Tones, texture, proportions and action. Spot on. Did you work the thorax into the spun body or tie it I'm after? Either way, it's very well done.

The thorax is tied in after the body. I'm still playing with getting the right length dubbing brush for this hook. This could become my new favorite hook style. It's almost like having a new girl friend . Well, maybe not so much.

Very cool--I was hoping someone would start using that hook. (FWIW, Hans has a number of Dennis Collier patterns on his site that make use of the 1870...) I'll be interested in how it hooks/holds fish: I love the York bends, but I'm curious about the hook gape, especially if you go barbless.

Wow, dejavous all over again! That is one really cool looking pattern and one terrific hook! Ray's right! Very similar to the ol' Red Fox Sq. Hair Nymph pattern (Dave Whitlock's) that I like to tie! There is no reason that your pattern would not immediately start catching fish as soon as it's tossed in! Just add water!
