Snipe and Purple (fresh var.)

Post by Old Hat » Tue Jan 29, 2013 4:26 pm

Dare I say "Improved" :D

No probably not. So we'll settle for "Fresh"
I took the idea of the snipe and purple, added a little UV peacock, and tied it like a Stewart's Spider.

Hook: Gaelic Supreme Catskill Spider
Thread: Pearsall's silk, purple
Thorax: Spirit River UV dyed peacock, purple
Hackle: Snipe upper covert
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Carl, clever idea and may just be "the" variation the fish are looking for on a slow day.
Never underestimate the power of peacock....... nor UV for that matter. :D

I realized that the shot doesn't really show the style so here is a profile.

Great looking interpretation Carl! 8-) What size are you tying it in?

I'd consider this an improvement. I love how you shaped the body and wound the herl. Very insect-like profile. Handsome fly.

Very nice, Carl. Real icing on the cake.

Thanks Guys.

Roadkill - I've been tying these on #16 and #14. This is on the #14.

I have a "thing" for purple on spiders, and this takes it to an even higher level. Kudos, Carl.
