Inspired PMD's

Post by fly_fischa » Thu Feb 21, 2013 1:41 am

After seeing Carl's PMD triptych I thought I'd have a crack at tying a few. :)

PMD that almost breaks the wet fly rules

Hook Hanak H 130 BL #16
Thread Sheer 14/0 in a primrose
Hackle Light Dun Hen
Tails Coq De Leon 4 Fibres Split tail
Abdomen Fly Rite #41 Pale Olive
Thorax Fly Rite #10 Blue Wing Olive (Don't tell the pale morning Duns) :?

Hends Quill Body PMD

Hook Varivas 2200BL 16#
Thread Sheer 14/0 in a primrose
Hackle Light Dun Hen
Schuck wisp of Fly Rite #41 Pale Olive dubbing
Abdomen Hends Body Quill BQ-11 wrapped from tie in point behind hackle to schuck in touching turns, then spun in a cord and wrapped over abdomen back to the tie point in more open turns.
Thorax own dubbing blend of tan cdc, olive cdc and orange antron

I was going to say those were exquisite, but didn't know how to spell it. I guess stunning will have to do.

Lovely stuff, Karsten.

Thanks Karsten, more great inspiration in colour, form and use of the Hends quill material. I am going to have to go check the stocks for appropriate colour shades.

Karsten, you nailed our local PMD color with the Hends Quill Body PMD. Very tantalizing pattern.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like them, I do love using the body quill material.
Great to hear from you Bill :D

Jeff- I'd love to see the flies you tie when you find your Hends stash. It would be great if you could put up a post...

Carl- that's good to know, now I know one of the colours I'll be sending you. ;)

Karsten, had a look through what I have and discovered a lot of it is their tinsel line not so much body-quill. What quill I do have does not really suit PMD colouration. I will keep looking. ;)
