Abdomen: natural beaver underfur in a loop

I like it.
It is almost like Christmas wrap on a potato sack.
That is not meant as an insult, but an observation of the contrast in the materials. The Beaver is a real contrast to the bronze herl. In this photograph the herl leaps out like it is artificial rather than natural when compared to the rest of the fly. That may well be an important factor to the fish.

I really like the look of this one, Carl. You have caught one fisherman at least. It should have no problem fishing in the film with the beaver dubbing. I tend to think of beaver as a dry fly dubbing than a damp or wet dubbing. I will have to tie a few of these and test them out.

Carl, the beaver should offer something you'll like. It hydrofuges (a verb?) Very well and should ride high for a bit. I just tied something similar using beaver in orange silk in the clarks block. I like the lighting effects of beaver as well. I'm a beaver believer...but what prompted the name?

I'm afraid Carl must be a fan (possibly an alum) of Oregon State University. Their misguided followers are called "Beaver Believers."

Name...hmm...I was trying to go with an Adams wet variation. Using cree and the beaver dub, but the peacock as Jeff pointed out grabs the spotlight. I was thinking Beaverkill, but that was already taken. Next train of thought...As a graduate of Oregon State University (Beaver as the mascot) we are known as "Beaver Believers" . This was just one of those general prototype patterns you just know in the back of your mind will work. At least you "believe" it will......

All kidding aside, it is a dynamite-looking fly.

Beaver is one of those materials that chose me to snake bite. Except for a two toned RS2 variation that I tie with beaver, that material does not like me. I have come back to the picture of your pattern quite a few times in the past day. I know I am going to break down and tie your pattern before the day is over.I will use the Honey Dun Hen I have been using lately. You have great tying skills , and I am sure that is part of the reason I am drawn to your pattern. Well done sir.

Just to save on arguments...materials and colors can think. They do have minds with which to torment me.

Blue, and Purple are colors that hate me. CDC, Swiss Straw, and Turkey wing and tail feathers are hateful materials as well.

I know what you mean about certain materials. CDC is one of mine as well.

An Adams dry was the very first fly I ever tied and most often at that time my dry flies were fished wet . Still caught plenty of fish, at least enough to keep me in the sport those first couple of years.
