I tied 4 of these last night. (never tied these before either) I am on a spider kick. Here are the photos. It has been way too quiet around here. I know if I am caught up, y'all aren't talking enough lately...lol.

Wow!! Someone is getting fancy! Great tieing Kelly. Your patterns look perfect to me. You nailed the proportions. It amazes me how productive these slim profiled patterns can be.

Dubbn, I am very happy that you like them. I was tying Snipe and Yellow, and that snipe was killing me, breaking off..lol. It was the worst on the 1640 hook. I am nowhere done with my spider kick. I will be tying more, and if any are halfway decent, I'd be happy to post more.

The bodies and segmentation are spot on.....I can not see a single flaw lady! I am very impressed. After I mow the lawns and plant my garden, I am going to tie some Spiders up. I have the fever now!

Dubbn, I used my strongest bifocals (for tying only small flies), and I used my Opti Visor if that is the right name. It was late when I tied these up. I do see some flaws, but overall they are nice. I am worried about the heat melting the wax off of them here though, especially because of the dark color. I am going fishing in a while, will see what they do. It rained pretty good here, so the water may be muddy. That will not be good for the fish to see these, if that is the case. People here got me all worked up to do some spider tying. Now, I see you have also caught the fever. Have at it!

Lovely wee spiders, Kelly. I must say that the short shanked version does it for me though. The 1640 is one of my favorite hooks for spiders. I've never had one of those hooks (knocking on wood) fail me in a tussle with a fish. Did you use a dark cobblers was to color the silk?

Yes, I did use a dark cobblers wax. This one was from Bailey's. The color is actually darker, than the photo shows. Glad you liked them!!

Nice spiders, Kelly. I have very weak eyes (I wear trifocals of such strength that a normal-sighted person wearing them can see Saturn's rings unaided), and I was having trouble with my tying. Last Christmas my fiance's daughter gave me a gift certificate to Cabelas and I used it to purchase this magnifying light, which I have been very happy with. I have mine mounted to the post on my vise and it is very easy to swing out of the way or adjust to suit.
