I think your Mallard is Drake, not sure what they sent in the packs, but hen is not black banded like the hackle collar you show. If it were white/grey with black banding and looked a little like Partridge on steroids..... then odds are it is Mallard Drake breast- from just below the copper neck region.
I cannot honestly remember if I put Mallard Drake in the box, probably did though as I have a big ole bag of the stuff!

Your thorax fur has an Australian possum look to it and is what it will be if you did not use the smaller white/grey denser softer fur.

It all works very nicely together and I hope it works well for you on your early morning adventures.

Love the fly. Really a great use of the imagination. My stuff went into the freezer. Then it goes to the moth ice box. THEN, I can play with it. Besides, I am still stuck on those spiders. Just finished a row of Partridge & Green. Now I am half way done with the Partridge & Orange. I am tired of partridge. (remember I get bored after 3 flies of something...ROTFLMAO) I have to come up with some stuff for a fall fishing trip. I also have to make a barbless box. I am gonna be BUSY.

I couldnt help but tie just one flie with th new material. My material went into the gas chamber. I opened all the individual bags, put them in a large ziploc bag, then added garden dust. I will leave it like that till tonight, then put it in the freezer for a few days. After I take the bag out of the freezer the new material will stay together in the gas chamber for two weeks. I will still use tha material for tieing, after it comes out of the freezer.

I only managed one Bow this morning, but it was a dandy. Took the "NZee" pattern I tied last night.

Your fish was fantastic! I knew that fly would work.
Your regimen is more strict than mine on materials. If the materials look iffy...they get a much longer treatment. I usually leave materials in the freezer for a week, then a week in the moth ice box. I am not much on washing materials though, or nuking them. It is a rare occasion for me to do that.
