I'm sorry my posting has been sparse and shallow lately, life can do that. But here's another fly just for grins. This is a pre-spun body of small amber Uni-wire and Aussie opossum from the hide. I made a bunch of these and hope they do what I believe they will, which is drop an extra few inches, but behave flymph-like when you need it. I like the body texture of this over adding a small bead. Ruard has inspired me to create a designated Clark's block just for wire. I like it very much.

Is the partridge hackle from the skin you bought in Roscoe? It has a lovely brown mottling.

Sweet looking fly William, it should do as you say and sink a little further without the bulk of a bead, but you may want to make sure it is thoroughly pre-soaked for the first couple of casts. Possum is funny stuff in how it behaves in water, forcing water into the body by swishing and squishing will negate any tendency it may have when dry to come back up to the surface.

Very nice looking hackle, nice colouration and banding. Helps that it is also well wrapped and put together.

Thanks everyone again. I agree, very creationist-ish...if I were bold enough to make the comparison. Jon, we could use a few more of your twisted bear-isms.

For now it's just a standard Anderson-Clark block in poplar, dedicated to wire only so I won't ruin the slits on a block designed for silk. But I would like to make a uniquely dedicated block for wire. In time.

Thanks, Bill. Thus is a size 14. The march browns we encountered in Roscoe we big 12's but most of what I've seen have been 14's. This wasn't tied for that purpose exactly, but it wasn't not meant for it either. (someone diagram that sentence).
