Hans, Great looking fly. I've been fishing it with and without the tail for a couple of years and it is productive either way, at least for me. YMMV

What Ron said. Tail and tailless for me this year. Hans, perfect example of how a Soft Hackled PT should turn out.

I do well in the fall of the year on a Red variation as well. On a couple specific rivers, and only in the Fall, so I suppose it is considered a specialized /custom pattern.
