North Country Greenwell's Glory (winged)

I know I posted one of these a while back in the lodge. I have worked on them a bit more.
Here is one that is tied on a classic Kendal "A" #16 hook that was graciously sent to me. Thanks! I love this hook for this pattern!

Very interesting take on the pattern.
Like your waxed silk, very nice "finished" shade of Olive. To my way of thinking (not critique- just observation) the wing and hackle both seem a little long, but then I am comparing it to mass produced (probably Asian made) mass produced commercial ties as a reference as I do not tie this style...... me and quill wings just do NOT get along!

It might be. I try for 1 1/2 times the length of the body. There might be a little camera angle working here. These close-ups exaggerate everything.

Bill, it always surprised me how long the wings and hackle seemed to be on a lot of these patterns. At least that is what I see in most pictures and plates. They fish well like this, that is all that matters.

I was happy with the color I was getting out of the bodies on these. I waxed the primrose lightly with a dark cobbler's wax then really worked the wax into the thread with my fingers. I usually wax it heavier.
