The softness of the hackle will make this fly come alive at the slightest current or movement. I'm confident that this would be a killing stillwater pattern.
How difficult was it to wind the Chickabou hackle? Are there any special techniques required?

Ray,
No winding of he chickabou hackle. Snip away the very tip, leaving a V-notch, so that only barbs are used, no stem, in the hackle. Tie in the feather with the tips pointing over the eye as the first material. After the body is completed, fold back barbs, fix angle and finish off with a neat small head.
