The Greenwells has a good following here in the Uk and justly so
But does it have any followers on the other side of the pond?
And is it extensively used like it is here.
Just a question

Re: Greenwells
I use it, and know several others that do as well, but I think we're the exceptions. You won't find it for sale in many fly shops.
FIfty or a hundred years ago it was a standard pattern over here (mentioned as such by both Gordon and Bergman), so it's not like it never made it across the pond. It just seems to have faded from memory.
I just tied some of them last week.

Re: Greenwells
My regular Greenwell's spider
and a Greenwell's Flymph I tie.
I use both patterns, and they work quite well.

Has a bit of a following down here in New Zealand. I use one now and again. Has travelled well.
Re: Greenwells
I've used it and some variations with success on several streams in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Re: Greenwells
Thanks for the replies guys the reason why I ask is I see very little mention of it in any USA correspondence.
