Hans you inspired me again using dubbing brushes. I made a blok and a little tool to turn the copper-wire.



This is the DB Tups



hook:Perfect International #12 ( make the eye straight)
thread: Uni yellow 8/0
body: dubbing brush: copper-wire and tups dubbing with some extra claret seals fur
hackle: Brahma hen golden straw

Thank you for posting about dubbing brushes. I have been interested in making for myself a small block (like yours) to make my own dubbing brushes. Yours look good! Could you post some photographs of your block? It will help me to create my own!
Did you have any trouble with the copper wire wanting to break? Too many twist?

Hi dougsden here they are:










The blok is 15x7x5 cm

The tool to turn the thread exist of a piece of iron and a pipe of copper (messing)

I use copper-wire of about 0.1mm (8 mills(?))

In the blok there are two nails without a head and three slits from a knife. Start with copper-wire in the slit around the nail on the head end and again in the slit and then in the slit on the other end. I hope it is clear for you.

Yes, very clear indeed and I appreciate the photo's and the description! I really like the end product, the dubbing brushes themselves. Between you and Ray (letumgo), I am inspired to head to the workbench, get out the wire and fur, and start creating! Thanks Ruard! A fine job as always.
