Timpanoga Flymph

This is for the Great Blue-Winged Red Quill hatch.
Hook: Mustad 3980 #9
Thread: Brown Pearsall's gossamer silk
Tail: golden pheasant tail fibers
Abdomen: Hares ear mix of shades on a cranberry thread dubbing loop
Thorax: medium hare's ear
Hackle: dark partridge

That is a great looking fly. the modeling of that hackle and tail is fantastic. And I'm not sure what the Great Blue-Winged Red Quill is, but it sounds like the male Hendrickson (Subvaria) Mayfly. Do you guys have that hatch in Oregon? Just curious. The pattern does look like a great match for the Subvaria nymph/emerging Mayfly. Great look.

I'm not sure if we have the hendrickson in Oregon, I don't believe so but they may be in the coast range. When I keyed out the Blue-winged Red Quill the book did state that this nymph is often confused with the Western Green Drake and the Large Dark Hendrickson. So for fishing purposes, probably not significant difference then .
