These are all tyed with the following materials:

Hook - Daiichi Model 1550
Thread - Pearsall's Gossamer Silk (Purple)
Hackle - Hen Pheasant (Picric Dyed - pale golden yellow)
Dubbing - Seal (Picric Dyed - Bright Yellow)

I recently went to watch VERN-O give a tying demonstration and he surprised me by giving me a few picric dyed materials to play around with. Thank you, VERN-O! I enjoyed tying with these feathers this morning. The photos don't really capture the color of the flies very well. I think the photos are a little over saturated. The color of the materials are more subtle than the photos suggest. I am really impressed with the hen pheasant feathers. It makes an an excellent substitute for golden plover.

Nice flies Ray!

Here in Oregon i could see myself getting the fishes preference on a 3 fly cast. In Idaho you could try the entire lineup on a 5 fly cast. I would especially like to compare the Glanrhos with the ribbbed dubbed body fly.

Dang, you went wild with that stuff. I tied some last night using the chartreuse silk and picric dyed partridge.

Nice work Ray....The picric tends to dry out the materials a bit. I was nervous when I started wrapping the hens (the first few times) thinking they would be brittle, but they are actually not bad to work with. I agree with the plover sunstitute for sure. I like the contrast with purple and picris....let me know how they fish for you!!!!
