Partridge and....

The fun you can have with a bit of silk, a dead partridge and a lump of old cobblers' wax...

Partridge and Orange

Orange silk, with near clear wax laid on with a trowel
Partridge and Yellow

Partridge and Orange Variant

That is actually a lump of wax at the head, but didn't notice until too late. Think the trowel might be overkill!
I've seen P&O tied with a rib, usually fine gold wire. Thought I'd have a go at ribbing it with yellow silk - which seems to be an older way of doing it, later replaced by gold wire. At least that is the impression I get looking through Courtney Williams... the march brown from the other day being a case in point.
Then purely on a whim, I wound the yellow silk in between open turns of the orange, as in the Dark Watchet.
The orange silk on this one is waxed with dark cobblers' wax btw...
Andrew.
