The fun you can have with a bit of silk, a dead partridge and a lump of old cobblers' wax... :D ;)

That is actually a lump of wax at the head, but didn't notice until too late. Think the trowel might be overkill!

I've seen P&O tied with a rib, usually fine gold wire. Thought I'd have a go at ribbing it with yellow silk - which seems to be an older way of doing it, later replaced by gold wire. At least that is the impression I get looking through Courtney Williams... the march brown from the other day being a case in point.

Then purely on a whim, I wound the yellow silk in between open turns of the orange, as in the Dark Watchet.

The orange silk on this one is waxed with dark cobblers' wax btw...

Andrew.

They are all lovely! I haven't been using much wax lately, but after seeing your results, I think I will start using it more often.

I guess its a personal thing but I personally don't like too much wax. Less is more for my eye..

That said, nice flies.

It doesn't get much more simple...and elegant than these. As beautiful as they are deadly.
Wonderful work friend!

Actually, I find that adding a hook increases the fun enormously.

Nice. I catch more fish on P&O's than probably every other fly combined. I really like the yellow silk rib; I'm going to try it.

Andrew,

I have posted these to the forum some time back, possibly before you joined. They are in a similar vein to the ones you posted, and offered for your perusal.

Very cool - 8-) Roy told me the neatness of your heads and tying off was really quite something, and he wasn't kidding! And there was me thinking I was getting the hang of it as well... :?

Yup Hans - you certainly look good in skimpy - don't let anyone tell you differently... ;)

Andrew.
