Spun the body in a dubbing loop not a dubbingblock, maybe too much fur because the Olive Gossamer dues not shine through. Put a couple of wraps of CdC behing the picric partridge but tricky avoid the "gap" between the tie-in points of the two feathers. Even so, I post it for your judgement ;)

dd,
...but tricky avoid the "gap" between the tie-in points of the two feathers.
Why?

If you would describe the tying sequence and steps, perhaps we can suggest alternatives?

Cheers,

Hi
That would be great! I would like to sort of integrate the partridge and CdC, thinking that that would be good.

a) I do the body except the thorax
b) Wind up to the eye and tie in the partridge by the base (so that it is pointing 90 degrees from the hook), catching in the stem a few mm backwards.
c) Just behind the partridge I tied in the CdC by the tip
d) Dub the thread and wind the thorax up to the tied in CdC
e) wind the CDC feather two wraps backwards, tie it in and go forward with the thread through the CdC
f) Then I wind the partridge two wraps, tie it in with 2-3 wraps of the thread and go forward, through the partridge, to the eye with two thread wraps
g) Whipfinish

Maybe I shouldn't wind the thread through the hackle, but it gives a more robust fly.

Cheers

Stendalen, Howdy;

Nice buggy looking fly.
Have you given it a 'swim' in some water to see what the effect water will have on it?

Very nice: Loren Williams tyes a similar "super-sized" flymph...I like especially how he sneaks another wrap of dubbing between two collars as a "hot-spot."

BTw, love the wood duck flank as tailing material...

Stendalen.....the fly is beautiful.....very beautiul and also very fishy lookin'.....not easy to pull both things off on the same fly. You did a heck of a good job.....and yes, i'd like it better with that little gap not there.....but it won't bother the fish at all. Next time when you use "Barred" Wooduck, NOT flank creation bear.....list it that way for those who don't know the difference. With all the discrepencies we have out here all the time.....it pays to be accurate with your recipes. Now don't get me wrong.....if your tying purely for artistic purposes, then i have no problem with loose discriptions at all. When i say artistically.....i mean flies that will NEVER be reproduced exactly to a recipe. To my eye, you have much talent. That fly really is beautiful. ;)

Thank you for posting your views on my efforts, MUCH appreciated.

I agree that detailed recipe is essential...I mean since you write it down you might as well do it sufficiently. So...now, I my self have done something that I get frustrated about sometimes, inaccurate or incomplete recipes :D

The recipe for this fly is by no mean my own, Johan Klingberg makes some beautiful flymphs http://www.danica.com/flytier/jklingberg/jklingberg.htm
