i just spent about 3 hours, while tyin' a streamer at the same time.....takin' alllll my different colors of dyed Amhearst, and or Golden necks, and seperating off the crest.....on the Whites, and yellows, light blues, pinks, and such.....the crest remain pretty much close to what they look like naturally........but on the red, darker greens, and darker blues.....even somma the oranges.......they take on the color of the dye more deeply. The purple almost looks black.....i shoulda done it long time ago..........back to the subject at hand.....
so anyone know where we can get that bleeched and dyed herl

Thanks for the positive remarks, folks. FYI, the bleached and dyed peacock eyesticks come from Nature's Spirit in many beautiful colors.

I get my Nature's Spirit eyesticks from Great Feathers, which does have an on-line site. As for the Ginger Snap spider body, I simply cut two side-by-side strands from the eyestick, tied them in together by the small ends at the rear of the body and wrapped them together in more or less touching turns up to the point where the hackle had been tied in.

nicely done. I like the 1640's for these short flies. I was thinking tan caddis, but it's lively enough to not matter much what's hatching. Beautiful.
