Really two good examples of the Wiggle. Old_Hat yours is a quite different one but very interesting because both the flies in the Wiggle are so different from eachother. Bill the wiggle of you looks so natural with those three biots.

tomorrow I will fish with my Wiggle see if it does any good??

Who follows??

I once saw a gentleman tie a "wiggle" style fly in this manner. The hook was used on the rear half. There was no hook used on the front. He used saltwater leader wire that would bend and keep its shape. He formed the wire leader material into a "paper clip" shape. So there was a loop at either end and three strands of wire forming the middle, or shaft section. Size just determined by the fly you were tying. The loop to be used at the rear was twisted, so that it was vertical and the loop in the front was kept horizontal like a straight eye. The rear vertical loop was then slipped through the eye of the rear hook to make the articulation point. The rear vertical loop was placed in the vice and thread was used to cinch the shaft of the "paper clip" together and the front of the fly was finished. I tied a few flies using this technique and it was very strong and worked very well for its purpose...and only used one hook.

Oh that's an interesting point. Are hookups better with the point on the front or back?

way cool. That certainly addresses CB's comments about tying short bodies to eliminate the stiff longer bodies of larger flies. These wiggles are very cool.

Vicki, as with most aspects of fishing there is always debate. I really don't don't think whether it is on the front or the back makes a big difference although there is the chance with a front hook that the fish would tail the fly. But in the smaller sizes I don't see this being much of an issue like it is on large streamers. Also the the longer the shank of the hook, the more ability the fish has to use leverage to throw the hook when it is being fought. That is why most trailing hooks are very short or round. Again probably not much of an issue with the smaller sizes. The biggest difference is going to be in how the fly operates under water, how it swims. With the weight in the front or back.

Ruard,
Simply amazing! Both your tying and photography (I think someone else mentioned this before. Sorry if I've stepped on any toes!). I think all of us on the forum need to come over to your house in the Netherlands and go thru your fly boxes too! Do you have room for several hundred of us?
All in good fun friend,

Intriguingly questionable in a good tone.

Creationbear really flymphy flies and I like the way you make a hackled tail on the first fly so the wiggle looks like one hook and not two parts. I like to have the hook fist because I don't have to make the connection to strong.

Doug I shall make a picture of my flyboxes before we go to Orkney than you have the virtual change to go to my flybox. :) ;)
