Absolutely beautful. Such a nice classic spider. I can imagine the feather...if that helps.

OK< the second one is finished.........here's the completel recipe.....and btw, from now on, no matter whether i used Kreinik thread or braid or whatever.....i'm just going to say Kreinik.....and i may specify color, but that's it. ;)
Hook: Partridge CS6JP (Jens Pilgaard Spey) 6/0
Thread: Danville Primrose 6/0 & i kinna wish i had used pure White in this case.....later on why
Tag: Green & Gold Kreinik
Tail: 3 dyed green GP Pheasent Crest tyed in the normal way, 1 Amearst Pheasent crest off a neck that had been dyed green,
tyed in upside down, and all veiled with two Blue peacock neck feathers.....
Butt: White Ostrich herl
Body: rear half, a Blue and Gold African Trade Bead.....front half, three different colors of Blue dubbing blended in hand and
picked out.....
Rib: Yellow Kreinik
Wing: two dyed Blue water fowl feathers.....hehehehe :D
Collar: Sky Blue Burnt Spey hackle.....
Head: left undyed (which is why i kinna wish i had used pure White thread instead of the Primrose.....
to perfectly match the Butt.....although it's a nice contrast with the rib.....
Eye: has been left undyed.....(extremely rare for me).....which in this case just seemed right......

Hope you like the flies Bill..... 8-)

Thanks to those who educated me on the thread color; it would be nice if the folks at Pearsall would put color info on the spool label. I was told as a child that the birds everyone came to NW Ohio to hunt in the fall were "Chinese" ringnecks, and I do believe that they were originally introduced in North America from China.

Mark R: I'm certain that I will like the flies, and those complicated recipes will be much more meaningful when I have the actual dressings in hand to inspect. As you request, I will photograph and post them when they arrive. Thank you in advance for taking the time to create these for me :D .

The hackle looks very interesting, chinese ringneck is not something i have ever come accross. If you get a chance can you take a pic of a single hackle.
Otter ~ I tried Ray's suggestion about using natural sunlight to capture the metallic sheen of this hackle, but as you can see from the photo, that didn't work very well either ...

This photo lost.

Bill - Did you use a flash to take the picture? I've gotten my best results without using a flash. The image looks a bit "off" in terms of the exposure, which is why I ask about the flash. No need to try the photo again for me, but if I can help I'm always happy to.

Not sure if this belongs here, in the Fishing Cabin, or nowhere on this board, but does anyone have a rooster pheasant head and neck they'd be willing to trade for something? As far as I know, I can't buy just the head/neck and I really don't need a whole skin.

Have never seen it in any catalog, including the Wapsi catalog. Only things you an buy are full skins, tail clumps and colorfully dyed feathers from the white ring. I'm looking for the head and neck, not dyed.
