According to Roger Fogg's "Wet-Fly Tying and Fishing", this is a traditional north country stonefly pattern.
Hook: Mustad 94840 (R50), #14
Thread: Pearsall's Gossamer, hot orange
Hackle: Barred brown undercovert from woodcock wing
Body: Waxed orange silk thread lightly dubbed with red-brown yarn fibers
Head: Peacock herl
