Vicki,

Both are excellent dressings, but that first one is just awesome. Very well done. Is it still raining?

Vicki - Your beautiful flies are almost making me wish for more rain. Wonderful flies, but I still wouldn't mind a few dry days so I could get out and fish...

It is still raining. I haven't checked yet today but rain was in the forecast for every day I have off the next couple of weeks! :(

The hackle in the first one is the white on the head. They aren't the best size for that hook but they're not too bad. It's my favourite too.

Number 1 gets my vote as well--a lovely fly. (BTW, if you're into wet-fly tapers in vintage cane, the TenkaraUSA "Ayu" will fit your stroke nicely. :) )

I like the first one a lot. The angle of the hackle is a lot more subtle and the proportion of head to body is more pleasing (to my eye, at least - the fish probably don't care and would take either.)
