Re: Llama Hair Bodies
That is a good idea William................leave it to Ray.
Cat's always thinkin'.....
We had a NAFF fly tying meeting tonight and i was using Llama hair for dubbing.......just blending white, black, and brown into the same bodies........comes on lookin' like swirl ice cream........then just any soft hackle you like. i was using various duck and game bird feathers...........on all kinds of different hooks. Some with tails, some without, some with ribbing, some without, some with a wing, some wingless. Gave everything away of course.........so no pics, but it was fun.
The lakes here are still VERY full and the rivers are being blown out for flood control. The fishing is actually great right now IF, you have a boat.....the wade fishing is non existant. People have been landing huge browns all spring and plenty of them, along with even more bows of course. i'll be fishing Crooked Creek for the most part this summer........Gills, Goggle Eyes, Red Ear, Smallies, Crappie, Rock Bass, etc. It's a GREAT Tenkara stream too. If you get some time, swing on over here for a week.......you'll love it.

Ha...I think that gent is a few months of P90x (not to mention a few tubs of depilatory cream) away from being in "Pequod" shape, though with luck he could manage the kind of harpoon one carries in a dirty red bandana.
At any rate, great flies...

Cheers Hank, Christchurch slowly getting back into shape. Will take a few years though! The place really is a mess.
And winter is slowly coming here. Wettest May on record where I live in the Northwest South Island. Very little snow on the hills and only a few frosts, but I think thats all about to change...

Johnno, Howdy;
Hope they will rebuild the church tower. That has to be an iconic landmark there...
The May we had here in Utah has been the wettest in history (as far as record keeping goes),
Historic snow pack in the mountains, run-off is just now starting to really start.
Still FEET of snow above 8,000 Above Sea Level (ASL). One ski resort is planning on being open for the
4th. of July. One of our Holidays that involves a small dispute with the crown a few years ago...
.
They (the resort), still have mid winter snow levels (10 feet).
Good luck thru the "winter"...

Re: Llama Hair Bodies
Ray, a follow up to the cased caddis comment.

I haven't tried anything like this before. With some practice I could probably tie up a pretty fair match to of some the naturals. I like this llama more everytime I work with it.

OK that is one of the nicest case caddis I have ever seen. Kind of makes me think of the old school binder twine they use to bind hay bales with. Way to go W.
