CDC
Last year I got interested in tying with CDC and my go to fly so far this year has been one of Hans' CDC and Deer. Any way I went out the other day in the heat and again it worked very well. With the water being clear I saw I had several refusals, I decided to modify the pattern somewhat by tying a s/h. I tied in a hen neck feather over the eye. ThenI tied the CDC in by the tip at the bend and wrapped it forward as I did this I put a small twist in the feather to give it a slightly fuller body. Finished it off by wrapping the hen back, tying it off and then my whip finish. I think this should float just under the surface. I used a 3906B hook.

Re: CDC
The submerged CDC should also carry some air with it, which seems attractive to fish when caddis are hatching.

Re: CDC
Where's the rest of the story? More or less refusals? Inquiring mind wants to know.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Re: CDC
Since they were taking a black CDC and deer on the surface, for whatever reason I tied them in black. The only thing I can think of is that they thought they were ants although they did not look at the ants that were presented to them.letumgo wrote:What colors do you recommend? Re: CDC
Bob, I tied some of these up just the last couple weeks (natural cdc, natural partridge) but haven't had a chance to try them out. Looking forward to your report.
