Daiichii 1640 and 1650

The Kamasan 980 look like the same hook. The specimen style hook is the style recommended by Roger Fogg for North Country flies. The Daiichi 1640 is used a lot, here, for tube flies and are readily available stateside.

Not thought of looking at specimen hooks, I mean not everything needs to be "fly fishing" right , guess "fly fishing" will effect the the price...

Mike, there seems to be a lot of hooks identical to the 1640/1650. Will check them out and see if Jim ships overseas.

Indeed, that is because many hooks are made in the same factory and merely repackaged. Also, once a hook pattern is established it is not that difficult to set up a machine to produce it. This is one reason for the massive explosion in hook patterns. Once upon a time they were all made by hand.

Jim does ship and he's very quick.

Having some trouble sourcing these hooks. Not tried soft hackles on straight-eye hooks so much and these looks great.

I've found them in US but not in Europe. Any ideas?

Try Mullarkeys in England, search for Drennan hooks: The Drennan super specialist is the same I think as the 1650.
