That is really unique, Kelly ... a Tenkara style swimming nymph. I like the concept. Let's see what Mark's Misako thinks about it.

Another one...I used different hackle...hen hackle for tail, and collar. I made this one a bit more pronounced. Maybe it it a bit
long for the collar hackle. (legs)

Kelly, i am VERY impressed........your are blowin' my mind with your creativity and innovative ideas. This is a great example of pushin' the boundries. i hope Chris sees it. i will show Misako and let you know what she says.....it's almost 9 p.m., and i just now saw it for the first time.....i LOVE it. Great colors (combinations) too. ;) Your tail/collar balance is REALLY nice. These would make great Steelhead flies actually.....somebody needs to make a swimming hook like these in a black nickel version. :D
Oh, btw.....you hackle is NOT to long.....put that, CLEAN outta your mind. Thass a non concept. 8-)

Thank you for your thoughts Mark. Yes, please ask Misa what she thinks. I don't know a thing about Tenkara. But I think they are cool looking. This is a weighted nymph, and Tenkara may be more of a dry. Still the reverse tied hackle should be wiggling all over the place, and getting a fish's attention. Plus it is buggy. I threw in a touch of color, which is not necessary, but it will help in my water conditions. I also think the reversed hackle might push the water more, that the fish will pick up on. Who knows, but I felt like trying it. I enjoyed making them. Whether or not they catch fish, now that is another story. They might be a great fish getter, or they may bite it trying to figure out what the crud it is....or maybe they will see it for what it is meant to be. The fish are the judges. But I like to get people's thoughts too.

BRILLIANT design!!! Outstanding pattern, Kelly. I can't wait to try tying some of these, myself. This pattern is just begging to be fished.

Kelly, traditional Tenkara flies are basically emergers........same as flymphs. But hey, you wanna go deep.....go deep. This is YOUR world. What's cool is that your doin' YOUR thing. Findin' ways to get YOUR rocks off. Thass what it's all about.......allllllll what's already been done...............has, well, already been done. So why not find things and ways to come up with somethin' of your own. Thank you. And your doin' it. i can dig it. Even if it's just a weighted Tenkara fly...it shows your thinkin'/experiementin'/havin' a ball/and GOIN' FOR IT. Just keep it up, and there is no limit to what you can do.......watchin' you grow as a tyer is very fun, and rewarding. ;)
