Silver Bullet SH

Post by DUBBN » Tue Mar 06, 2012 5:41 pm

I was messing around with my Grizzly hackle and new thread after work today. I was kind of having a fly tyers "block" as I could not think of what to tie. Gray and Gray? What can I tie? Then I remembered a small Gray emerger that I use on the local tailwaters. The Silver Bullet. So, using it as a guide, I threw this pattern together.

Long version of the Silver Bullet.

Hook - Mustad R73-9671 size 16
Thread - 14/0 Sheer in Gray
Rib - UTC silver wire
Abdomen - 14/0 Sheer in Gray
Thorax - Muskrat under fur
Collar - Grizzly Hen Hackle

Short version
Hook - Mustad 3906

Great little series. My favorite is the little cousin. Looking forward to sering what else you come up for that hackle.

Fantastic flies and photos. All three patterns look like they would be fish magnets.

Holy smokes, that bottom photo is sharp as a tack. Great job Wayne.
