Tom - I noticed that you use the R70 hook, which tends to be a little heavier than the R30's and R50's. Did you choose this hook to fish the fly a little deeper? This is the reason I like using the R70's and R90's.

Ray,

Yes. I have been tying up some size 16 PMD flymphs this evening using R50s because I will be fishing them in the film. If I know I will likely be fishing a fly beneath the surface then I will choose a heavier hook. For many of the flies I have been posting lately, hook weight has really not been much of a consideration. I have just been experimenting with various colors and materials to see what the combinations look like. ;)
