Very nice work, Kelly. These results should encourge you to do more of this style.

Thanks for your opinions. The first one is a little compact because it is a shorter shanked hook. I do not have a feel for trying to get it all in, but I still think it will be enticing to a fish. Trying to wrap the hackle evenly, and getting the proper amount of dubbing on, is not as easy as it looks. Some of the flies were downright ugly, but they still will probably catch fish. ;) These 3 were my favorites. I am glad they were something you also think will catch some fish. It is hard to tell the hackle is ginger dun on the last photo, but if you see it in person, you know it is. I think the light washed out the color. Both of the hens I used were beautiful. I am going to be trying these out on warm water local fish.

Yes, the photos I've seen here were what made me want to try this style. I may not be tying them exactly right. But hopefully with a little more practice, the looks will continue to improve. I am supposed to be finishing up a great looking David Mac streamer, but I had to take a break, and tie something fun. There are so many things I want to try, and not nearly enough time to try what I want. I did not go by a set pattern. I was just trying to get the style/technique down.

Kelly - You are a natural at every fly tying style you take an interest in. I really enjoy watching your learning wingless wet flies. I find your quest, for new tying challenges, inspiring. Kudos.

Ray, thank you. I have been inspired from your work, from the beginning. (as soon as I found your work that is, but it has been quite a while that I became aware of it) It seems that we have some of the same interests as far as flies go. If you like my work, then I am well pleased.

Kelly, no reason all three will not be good flies on the water. Perhaps No.1 could do with a little more length and another 1 X long in the shank to show a little more abdomen, but says who? Do not get too hung up on trying to copy other ties to a tee, this is what in your minds eye at the time you wanted to tie and how you wanted the fly to come out. It may not be as you first thought when you first clipped the hook to the vice, but it was when you had finished. They are open wrapped hackle designs of your own form and all three will do well on the water.
Keep at it and you will turn out some wonderful thorax hackled flies, one does not have to look back into the forum very far to see you have the talent for wonderful ties, but these three...... I would not turn them away from my flybox.

Mataura Mayfly, your words were very helpful, thank you. I appreciate your inspiring words. :D There is so much talent here in this area. I wish I had videos to watch. But I do the best I can with what I can understand. Posts here, and what little I have in books etc... have helped me have an idea of what I want to do. I just feel deeply that these flies will be something I can catch a lot of fish with. To me they have history, and they are little work horses for your fly box.

Such a nice post. The comparison posts are my favorites. You've got some nice things happening here. Let's see a few more.
