Thanks Kelly and Ray. I have become a bit obsessed about using over sized feathers lately. I normally dont throw patterns together unless the patterns are going to be fished. These two flys may, or may not get fished. I just grabbed material that was laying on my desk to tie them up. I have been looking for any excuse to practice with over size hackles.
My fly boxes are completely full at the moment, and every Flymph, Soft Hackle, Wet and Spider I use has been photographed and displayed for this forum. I have noticed that my tying gets better when I set out to share the pattern in pictures. I have also noticed I let my tying get lazy when I know I wont be sharing pictures. Being able to view what patterns other members of this forum use, and the techniques they deploy to create them helps me. It makes me strive to tye functional, yet pleasing to the eye patterns.
Two years ago, I would never have tyed a Purple fly, and Mylar would never have been found on one of my patterns as body material. Except a Muddler Minnow.
