Rodger, great pattern. I would fish this all day long.
I'll defend you on your naming convention. The North Country tradition does call for the Hackle & Body typically, but (and I could be accused of devising names as drab as my flies) I sometimes use the body first for reference sake. Llama flies are named as such so I don't have to search through file folders to find the Grouse & Llama 1530, Partridge & Llama 1270 and Starling & Llama 1530. Easier to keep them together. I just depends on the emphasis for the pattern. I have a tough time remembering where things are, so any "convention" that I can devise to help me out is the way I go. Maybe choosing one convention and being consistent would be helpful in my case. As much as I enjoy the more creative names, which at times adds a dimension that makes sharing it entertaining. If I started naming patterns something like...The Devil's Wink...I would be lost. (now I'm wondering what that might look like. Probably a beadhead pattern.
