Amber Brown

Post by RnF » Mon Aug 10, 2009 5:27 pm

I haven't posted much for quite some time, hope to change that. Here is a caddis pattern that has been fishing very well for me this summer. This isn't one of my patterns, my wife came up with it a few years ago and it has treated us well over the years. On one of the rivers I have been fishing, there is a particular caddis that hatches from around 11 am to 4pm and the fish just can't leave this pattern alone. I fish it like a nymph (typical indicator and weight set up), but at the end of the drift I let it swing below me and catch many fish that way. But the fish will take it on a dead drift too.

Welcome back, Scott. It is great seeing your flies again. Beautiful fly and fish! I've already added these two dubbing colors to my shopping list. Thanks for feeding my dubbing obsession... :D

You are welcome Ray! The Super Fine Blue Wing Olive and Adams Gray colors are good too ;)

I like the two tone thing, Scott. I split open a limpet caddis the other day and the body was just the amber yellow of your fly. I'm going to stick a few of them in my box for sure.

When that amber gets wet, it looks really buggy and matches a lot of insects. Love this particular dubbing.

Ray, anytime
