a few more from the old box

Post by William Anderson » Sun Jul 01, 2012 9:30 am

There are rows of flies all tied with the Daiichi 1270 (200R) style hooks in this old box.

Iron Blue Dun

I ordered a Jackdaw scalp back then, but that was the only game hackle with this dark gray color. I assume that's what this is, although it might have been a gifted hackle feather. Any thoughts?

Whatever it is -- and it looks pretty "ruly" (as opposed to unruly) to be jackdaw -- it is awesome. As a matter of fact, any these three would dress up my fly boxes.

I would have guessed the hackle to be waterhen.

Exemplary set of flies, William. You fish with handsome flies.

I hope to someday soon. Of course with the company I usually keep you won't have to be dashing to be a marked improvement. :D
