"McGilly Bug" Soft Hackle
Hook - Mustad Model R50-94848 (Size 12)
Thread - 14/0 Bennechi (Black)
Hackle - Hungarian Partridge (Dyed Brown)
Tail - Pearsalls Marabou Silk (Red) - Full Strand/Cut to roughly the length of the hook gap.
Body - Hairline Rabbit Dubbing (Fluorescent Yellow #03 / Black / Fluorescent Yellow #03)
Head - Tying thread (Double Whip Finish)

This is intended to be a bluegill/panfish pattern. It is a soft hackle adaptation of the famous McGinty winged wet fly. I have changed a number of components/design elements, so I have renamed the pattern. I think this would also work on brooktrout.

Looks very versatile. I love the contrast of colors on this one.. should be an excellent brookie fly.

Gotta agree with smuggler -
the Brookies up North would be all over these.

Thanks guys. I am thinking of scaling this pattern up for steelhead. I really like the color combination. May make a good pattern for turbid water.

I'm not sure what would possess a fish to eat a bee or a wasp more than once, but they sure do at times.

I briefly considered a McGinty soft hackle for the swap; yours are a great looking variation on the theme.

Really fine-looking fake fish food Ray. Can hardly wait for the day when this swap ships.

And I like the choreography.
You were thinking Busby Berkeley, right?

gingerdun, Howdy;

First thought that hit me was the June Taylor Dancers
form the Old Jackie Gleason Show.

Ray I mentioned that they must be some of your
'patented' SMB flys in the swap thread... :D
Didn't realize your were going to paste'em up like wallpaper...
