Hook: #14 Orvis 594F up eye nymph hook
Thread: 14/0 yellow
Hackle: Woodcock shoulder (yes, I mistakenly named this grouse earlier)
Body: Olive weasel spun on Primrose silk on the dubbing block



I've been fooling around with the spun bodies on the cards lately and of all the bodies I've put together, I found this card and had to use it. I really like the weasel. It's like something between mole and muskrat furs.

It wasn't too long ago when I first tried the weasel I tied these. Yet to wet either of them...just too many flies to fish. I'll get to them.

William, sorry... sometimes I forget I am not talking to a group of fellow Kiwi's. Over here in the mustelid family we are blessed (read cursed) with the ferret, the stoat and the weasel, all introduced for silly reasons and still play havoc with our native small animals and birds rather than the rabbits (also introduced!) they were bought in to control. They rate very high on the pest scale.
It is a long standing riddle here among outdoors types: "How do you tell the difference between a Stoat and a Weasel?" easy, "One is Stoatally different and a Weasel is Weaselily distinguished!"

You possibly have to be Kiwi to appreciate it.

Half a Stoat skin went to a forum member the other day, we will see if he decides to share it here.

I'll tell you, Woodcock is one of the most beautiful feathers to work with IMO, sure great modeling and color.
